RODMAN, N.Y. —
Alvin J. Bisig Jr., 80, of Plank Road, Rodman, died Tuesday
morning, Oct. 11, at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown,
following a brief illness.
Mr. Bisig was a carpenter for the Robert Farquar
Construction Co. of Watertown for 38 years retiring in 1993.
Born Sept. 14, 1931, in Rodman, a son of Alvin and Josephine
Mastin Bisig Sr., he was educated in Adams Center schools.
Alvin married Marlyn Casler on Nov. 7, 1952, in Watertown.
Mr. Bisig was a 58-year member of the Rodman Volunteer Fire
Department serving many of those years with the departments
Fire Police.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling.
Besides his wife Marlyn, he is survived by a son, Ricky
Bisig, and his companion, Lori Cashel, of Adams; a grandson,
Derek Bisig; a granddaughter, Chelsie Bisig; several nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Alvin was predeceased by a son, Donald, in 2006. His twin
brother Allen passed June 21 of this year. Three
sisters, Fern Farquar, Loris Henderson and Lois Hayes, also
predeceased him.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at Reed &
Benoit Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fairview
Cemetery, Rodman. Calling hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday
at the funeral home.
