James I. Allen

OSWEGO, N.Y.  —  James I. Allen, 72, of First Street, died Friday, Oct. 7, as a result of injuries sustained when he was struck by an automobile while riding his bicycle. 

Born July 27, 1939, in Watertown, the son of John and Ruby Rivers Carpenter Allen, he graduated from Watertown High School. 

He entered the Navy in 1961, serving in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1965.   

Mr. Allen was an electrical engineer and was employed with Gray Syracuse, Chittenango, Rubbermaid, Cortland, SYROCO, Baldwinsville, Pass & Seymour, General Electric and Carrier Crop, all in Syracuse, Accurate Die Casting, Fayetteville, and worked with his brother-in-law at a service station for a short time. 

An avid bicyclist, he rode over 2,000 miles since May. He also enjoyed fishing. 

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Sherri and Mark Wolfe, Brownville; a son, Richard Allen, address unknown; two grandchildren, Robert Hanni, Theresa and Rebecca Hanni, Brownville; two brothers, Joseph, Lowville and Andrew, Camillus; and a sister, Celine Tillman, Theresa. 

Services in Oswego will be at a later time.
