CARTHAGE, N.Y. —
George E. Storms, 64, of 37230 Route 3, died Saturday morning in the
emergency room at Clifton-Fine Hospital, Star Lake, after being stricken while hunting at his camp in Degrasse.
Born January 6, 1947, in Watertown, the son of the late
Secord and Mary O'Brien Storms, he was a 1965 graduate of
Carthage Central School and later attended Hudson Valley
Community College.
He married the former Gloria J. Hull on May 30, 1970, at
Cherry Valley, N.Y.
He retired in 2003 from Niagara Mohawk in Watertown after 33
years of service where he was chief maintenance mechanic in
the Station and Hydro Departments.
Mr. Storms was a member of the BPOE Lodge # 1762, Carthage.
An avid wood worker, he spent his time making all types of
furniture and cabinetry in his workshop. He loved hunting,
fishing and spending time with his family at the family
cottage in Verona, Ontario and hunting camp in Degrasse.
Surviving are his wife, Gloria H., Carthage; two sons and
their wives, Scott and Stephanie Storms, Morrisonville, and
Mark and Shannon Storms, Carthage; five grandchildren,
Olivia, Jack, Connor, Thomas and Sara; three brothers and
their wives: Steve and Cyanne Storms, Harrisville, Mike and
Sue Storms and Paul and Greta Storms, all of Carthage; and
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at
Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home with Deacon Richard Staab
officiating. Burial in Pleasant View Cemetery, Degrasse will
be held at the family’s convenience following cremation.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct.18, at the
funeral home.
