— Josephine M. Norris, 83, passed away Saturday evening,
Oct. 15, at her home on Cooper Street.
Calling hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc.,
Watertown. A prayer service will be 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, October 19,
at the funeral home followed by the 10 a.m. funeral Mass celebrated at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church
with Rev. Richard Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
Born April 7, 1928, in Watertown, the daughter of Anthony J. and Anna M. Capone
Bova, she graduated in 1946 from Watertown High School and received her cosmetology certificate from Beaux Beauty School, Syracuse.
She married William T. Norris on Nov. 6, 1954, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Rev. James A. Francoeur officiating. Mr. Norris died
Oct. 9, 1984.
Mrs. Norris was a hairdresser for many years, including owning Jo's Beauty Shop and Dashnaw's Beauty Shop, both in Watertown.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, ran the Fried Fritter Booth at the Sacred Heart Festival, and worked Bingo for many years.
She was devoted to her family, friends and especially her granddaughters. She enjoyed baking and bingo.
Surviving are two daughters, Judith A. Norris, Watertown, and Toni M. Norris Cochis and husband, Timothy, Clifton Park;
three grandchildren, Jillian Norris, Watertown, and Allison and Anna Cochis, both of Clifton Park;
a brother and his wife, Michael and Shirley Bova, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and members of her husband's family.
Besides husband, William, she was predeceased by her infant son, William T. Norris, and her two brothers, Augustine "Buddy" and Joseph Bova.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations in her name to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 320 W. Lynde St., Watertown, NY 13601.
