Albert E. Lister

WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  Albert E. Lister, 92, of 1167 Gill St., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 18, at his residence surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice. 

Born Sept. 3, 1919, in Deferiet, a son to George and Mabel Birrell Lister, he graduated from Watertown High School. He served in the Army Aircorps.   

Albert married Helen L. Forbes on Aug. 31, 1946, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Watertown. Mrs. Lister passed away June 29, 2008. 

Mr. Lister began working for the Watertown Fire Department on July 1, 1947. After 33 years of service, he retired as battalion chief on Dec. 28, 1980.   

Albert was a member of American Legion Post 61.  

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to his cottage at Point Peninsula.   

Surviving are a son, Michael L. (Christine) Lister, Romulus, N.Y.; two daughters, Patricia "Tina" (Bruce) Lynch, Watertown, and Madeline "Sue" (Gary) Oatridge, Watertown; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.   

Besides his wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, Howard and Harold Lister, and three sisters, Margaret, Helen, and Eleanor. 

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with Father Shane Lynch officiating. Burial will follow in North Watertown Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at the funeral home.  

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to Hospice of Jefferson County, 425 Washington St., Watertown, N.Y.
