Michael M. Gilmore

CAPE VINCENT, N.Y.   Michael M. Gilmore, 69, of Lake Street, passed away surrounded by his family Thursday, Oct. 20, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, as a result of an accident at his home Oct. 18.

uneral Mass will be said 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at St. Vincent of Paul Church, Cape Vincent. Burial will follow in St. Vincent of Paul Cemetery, Cape Vincent. 

Born Sept. 19, 1942, in Gouverneur, the son of Amy McKee and Lloyd “Shine” Gilmore, he graduated in 1960 from Watertown High School and Canton ATC in 1962. He served in the Army from 1968 to 1972 with a tour of duty in Vietnam.  

He married Patricia Wiley on Sept. 10, 1983 in Cape Vincent.  

He owned the Sportsman’s Bar & Marina and was a fishing charter guide aboard “The Osprey” for several years. 

He was a participant in many productions with The Watertown Little Theater during the 1960s.

Mike had a lifelong love of the St Lawrence River that lasted to his death. He had a passion for a good round of golf, a big buck, a successful fishing trip, Syracuse basketball, and the New York Giants. He was especially fond of strumming his guitar and Irish Music.   

He was a member of the Cape Vincent American Legion, Cape Vincent Fire Dept, and St. Vincent of Paul Church. 

Surviving are his
wife, Patricia, Cape Vincent; a daughter and her husband, Amy and Richard Hanson, Dexter; a granddaughter, Lindsay Hanson; and a grandson, Benjamin Hanson, Dexter. 

Donations may be made to the Cape Vincent Ambulance Service in his memory.
