Lynne
R. Getman, 77, of Easton Street, died Friday afternoon, Oct.
26, at her home, under the care of her family and Lewis
County Hospice.
Calling
hours are 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 3, at Iseneker
Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville. A reception at Tug Hill
Vineyards will be immediately following the calling hours.
Burial in Lakeside Cemetery, Sackets Harbor, will be at the
convenience of the family.
Born June 26, 1935, in Watertown, a daughter of the late
Glenn and Ruth McCormack Rice, she graduated in 1953 from
Watertown High School and SUNY Potsdam in 1957.
She is most remembered for teaching first grade at Lowville
Academy, retiring in 1998. After retiring, she, together
with Donna Loucks, Ginny Owens and Suzie Parker, operated
GeDeS estate sale business in Lowville. For those who knew
Lynne, she was known for her creativity in both the
classroom and her personal life.
She
was a member of DKG (A National Teaching Sorority), and New
York State Retired Teacher’s Association.
Before
settling in Lowville, Lynne and her family lived throughout
the United States.
She enjoyed traveling abroad with both family and friends.
Surviving are three children and their spouses, Sara and
Thomas Hefferon, Watertown, Gregory Getman, Walton, and
Laura and Efren Vaca, Great River; two sisters and their
husbands, Diane and David Derrigo, Watertown, and Renee and
Robert Akenhead, Alliance, Ohio; six grandchildren, Meghan
and Caroline Hefferon, John and Tyler Getman, Samuel and
Grace Vaca.
She is also survived by her former husband, Gary L. Getman.
