Ell G. Titus

WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  Ell G. Titus, 98, of 933 LeRay St., passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, at Samaritan Medical Center where he had been a patient for a short time. 

He was born Sept. 13, 1913, in Belmont, N.Y. a son to Ralph and Flossie Gibbs Titus.  

He married Velma Edith Sweet on Nov. 1, 1939, in Stowe, Vt.  

While in Vermont, Mr. Titus worked as a farmer. In 1957, the couple moved to Watertown. In Watertown, he was employed by the Watertown Daily Times as a route driver from 1962 to 1978.   

Mr. Titus was a member of the Standard Church, known now as the Grace Wesleyan Church, holding many office positions over the years. He was also a member of the Automotive Senior League at Seaway bowling alley.  

Besides bowling, he enjoyed carpentry work and spending time with his family. 

Surviving are his wife; a daughter and her husband, Sandra and Samuel Skinner, Brownville; three grandchildren, Melissa (Scott) Lomber, Canandaigua, N.Y., Ryan Skinner, Brownville, and Timothy Skinner, Orlando, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Samantha Lomber, Rochester, and Mark Lomber, Canandaigua, N.Y.; two sisters, Aleatha Kolinar and Joyce Sumner; and a brother, Stanley (Anita) Titus.   

Three brothers, Floyd, Clifton, and Donald Titus, and a sister, Alma, died before him.  

The funeral service will be noon Saturday, Oct. 29, at Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown.  A calling hour will precede the service from 11 a.m. to noon  Burial will follow the service in Sanford Corners Cemetery, Calcium.
