CARTHAGE, N.Y.  —  Marie Betty Hoffman, 85, formerly of Carthage, died Sunday, Oct. 30, at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown. She had been a resident of the Samaritan Keep Home.

Born April 5, 1926, in Champion, the daughter of George and Maria Shedd Montgomery, she attended school in Champion and graduated from Antwerp High School. 

She married Robert L. Hoffman Jr. on July 9, 1944, at the Grace Episcopal Church, in Carthage, with the Rev. Dr. H. Curtis Whedon, then Rector, officiating. Mr. Hoffman died Oct. 11, 1990.
 
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-;aw, Brenda Bridge, and Marsha and Dennis Sears, all of Carthage; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Hoffman, Carthage; three grandchildren; John Hoffman and his wife, Kathy, Carthage, Jody Hall, Kentucky, and Robert Hoffman and his wife, Missy, Carthage; three great-grandchildren, Heather Hall, Taylor Mono and Brock Hoffman; and a great-great-granddaughter, Aubryana Wood, Carthage.

A son, Bernard Hoffman, died in 2007.

The funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, in the chapel of the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage. Visitation will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
