Robert R. Berry

HOUSEVILLE, N.Y.  — 
Robert R. “Bob” Berry, 63, of Route 26, died Tuesday evening, Nov. 1, at Upstate Medical University, Syracuse. 

Born Nov. 18, 1947, in Copenhagen, the son of Robert W. and Florence M. Lawlee Berry, he graduated in 1966 from Copenhagen Central School. He continued his education with an associate’s degree from SUNY Morrisville. Robert served in the U.S. Army Reserves. 

He married Cathy A. Wells on March 20, 1971, in Lindley, N.Y. at Lindley Community Church. 

Bob started working for NYS Office of Parks and Recreation at Whetstone Gulf State Park in May of 1968 and retired as park supervisor on Dec. 29, 2002. 

He had a passion for collecting and selling sports cars which led to his own dealership, B & R Auto has been in business in Houseville for 32 years. 

Mr. Berry was a communicant of St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Houseville, a 43 year member of Lowville B.P.O.E. Lodge #1605, Copenhagen American Legion Floyd Lyng Post #723, and Sno – Pals snowmobile club Barnes Corners. 

He loved spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends, and his camp at Brantingham Lake. 

Surviving are his wife, Cathy; two daughters and a son-in-law, Julie Berry Hulbert, Lowville, and Jennifer D. and Kevin Fayle, Glenfield; five grandchildren, Brandon, Kaitlin, Matthew, Brent, and Brody Robert; his mother, Florence, Copenhagen; a brother and his wife,  Patrick and Evelyn Berry, Black River; two sisters, Maureen Rumble and Mike Irey, Carthage, and Charlene and Gerald Pickering, Victor; nieces and nephews. 

His father, Robert, and a brother-in-law, Rick Rumble, both died before him. 

A funeral Mass will be said 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Rev. Christopher Carrara, pastor, officiating. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at Sundquist Funeral Home where an Elks service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.
