WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  Helen M. Higgins, 82, formerly of 742 Ball Ave., died Monday, Nov. 7, at Samaritan Keep Nursing Home where she had been a resident since 2007. 

Born Sept. 26, 1929, in Schenectady, the daughter of James and Helen Wilson Higgins, she graduated from local schools, Syracuse University, and graduate courses in education.   

Helen taught high school English in the South Jefferson School District for a number of years retiring in 1991. 

Surviving are two sons, Richard Vargas, Schenectady, and Kevin Vargas, Bethlehem, Pa.; and a brother, Paul T. Higgins, Watertown. 

There will be no services. 

Arrangements are with the Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown.
