LOWVILLE, N.Y. —
Alexander
Norman “Alex”
Cohen, 63, of State Route 12, passed away Saturday evening,
Nov. 10, at Lewis County General Hospital with family and
friends at his side.
Alex
was born on Feb. 7, 1949, in Westchester County, the son of
Isaac and Betty Soloff Cohen.
He attended the Oneida-Lewis ARC day program in Turin and
lived in a family care home with his mother-figure, Ava
Colwell and his best friend Ricky Harwood for the past 28
years.
Alex was a member of the Bethel Nazarene Church in Lowville.
He also attended Delta Lake Bible Camp in Rome and vacation
bible school at his church yearly. He enjoyed dancing,
bowling, traveling and Sunday school. Alex loved to make
people laugh and will be sadly missed by many.
In addition to Mrs. Colwell and Ricky Harwood, Alex is
survived by Bill Colwell of Concord, N.C., and Peter Colwell
of Lowville.
His father-figure, Randy Colwell, died before him.
Funeral
services will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the
Bethel Church of
the Nazarene, Lowville with Rev. Keith W. Hardy officiating.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the church prior
to the funeral service. Burial will be 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov.
15, in Lowville Rural Cemetery.
