Lyle E. Wagoner

ALEXANDRIA BAY, N.Y.  —  Lyle E. Wagoner, 92, of St. Lawrence Park Road, died Sunday, Nov. 13, at the home of his daughter, Maureen Gilligan in Adams Center. 

Born August 23, 1919 in Glen Park, he was the son of Henry U. and Myra B. Wright Wagoner and graduated from Brownville High School and had attended Jefferson Community College in Watertown. 

He served in the Army from 1942 to 1945. 

A marriage to Ellen F. McPhilny ended in divorce. He married Sara Jean Reynolds on July 25, 1967. She died Dec. 23, 2007. 

Mr. Wagoner was employed with Black Clawson and WOTT Radio, both in Watertown and was owner-operator of Ly-Jac’s Restaurant and Lounge in Alexandria Bay. 

He was a member of the John B. Lyman American Legion Post 0904, Alexandria Bay and Barben-Jones Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1400, Watertown 

Mr. Wagoner enjoyed traveling with his wife, Sara Jean, bird hunting, boating and woodworking. 

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary D. and Estella Wagoner, Champlain, and Henry E. Wagoner, LaFargeville; three daughters and their husbands, Maureen A. and Patrick Gilligan, Adams Center, Winifred M. and Timothy Otis, Rouses Point, and Judith A. and Leslie Flinn, Camden; a sister, Alrene J. Nadelen, Brownville; 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. 

Besides his wife, a daughter-in-law, Terry M. Wagoner, died before him. 

Burial in Highland Park Cemetery in Alexandria Bay will be private.
