— Frank
A.
"Moe" Geno, 85, of Bellew Avenue, passed away
Tuesday morning, Nov. 13, at Samaritan Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held noon Friday, Nov. 16, at
Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown. Burial in St.
Stephen's Cemetery, Croghan will be at the convenience of
the family.
Born July 29, 1927, in Watertown, a son of Leo and Jennie
Fardella Geno, he graduated from Watertown High School.
On June 19, 1945, he entered the Navy. He received the
Victory, American Theater and Asiatic Pacific Medals and was
honorably discharged as a Seaman First Class on June 27,
1946.
He married Joan P. Pierre on July 29, 1961, at St. Anthony's
Church with Fr. Burnett officiating.
Frank had worked for his brother, Pat, at Geno's Produce in
Watertown. He then began his career with NYS Dept. of
Transportation. After 35 years of service, he retired as a
mechanic.
Mr. Geno was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church.
He was a member of the Italian American Club, VFW Post 1400,
American Legion Post 61, and the Civil Service Employees
Union. At one time he had worked for Sammy's Florist where
his specialty was shrubbery and he especially enjoyed coffee
with his buddies in different diners and restaurants around
Watertown.
Besides his wife, Joan, he survived by three daughters,
Jennie Vieths and husband, Edward "Sam", Norwood,
Rosalie Wahl and husband, Heinz, Clayton, and Joan Geno,
Watertown; nine grandchildren, Crystal Schneider, Great
Bend, Catherine and Chris Pitcher, Middlebury, VT, Joshua
and Pia Schneider, Black River, Rosalie Ingro, Colo.,
Mitchell and Nicholas Belile, both of Norwood, and Toni,
Gavin and Madison Wahl, all of Clayton; three great-grandchildren,
Tahlia Schneider, Great Bend, and Summer and Christopher
Schneider, both of Black River; a sister, Mary Carlo,
Watertown; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A brother, Pat Geno, and four sisters, Lena Capone, Frances
Geno, Rosalie Geno, and Angela Hobart, all died before him.
