Carl H. Marriott
Born May 31,
1924, in Harrisburg, a son of James Marriott and Maggie Rowe,
he was raised on a dairy farm on Tug Hill and was the
youngest of 13 children, nine of which lived to adulthood.
Carl graduated from Lowville Academy Central School in 1942. Carl owned
the first chain saw in Lewis County. He started his own
logging and gravel business in 1950, retiring in 1987. He
always felt that he had helped build this country and
greatly enjoyed all the nice folks he met. In 1960 he
was the only person in Lewis County that owned a ten-wheeled
dump truck along with his own gravel pit. Carl was a
sportsman who enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling, having many
great times at his hunting camp in Montague which he owned
for over 40 years. His funeral
service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at Sundquist
Funeral Home with Rev. Beth O’Neil, pastor of Lowville
United Methodist Church, officiating. Calling hours will be
5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25. Condolences
may be made on the online guest book at www.sundquistfh.com.
