William F.
Van Luven , 93, of Doran Road, died Tuesday evening, Nov.
20, surrounded by his family at his home.
The funeral will be 3:30
p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Reed & Benoit Funeral Home,
Watertown, with Pastor David Haldeman from the Carthage
Mennonite Church officiating. Spring burial will be in
Riverside Cemetery, Copenhagen. Calling hours will be 2 to
3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the funeral home.
He
was born in Harrowsmith, Ont., Canada, a son to Fred and
Edna Campbell VanLuven.
He married Genevieve Dailey on Oct. 12, 1939. Mr. and Mrs.
VanLuven owned and operated a dairy farm in Copenhagen from
1953 until retiring in 1992. Mrs. VanLuven passed away Jan.
18, 2011.
Mr. VanLuven was involved in Agway, WMHR, and the Cornell
Cooperative Extension.
He was a member of the Carthage Mennonite Church and a
former member of the Free Methodist Church on Arsenal St.
Surviving are a son, Ronald, Leesburg, Fla.; two daughters,
Carol McLallen, S. Edmeston, and Jean Brunson, Copenhagen;
12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy
Wincoff, Texas; many nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Charles and Allen VanLuven, and two sisters,
Violet Sibley and Shirley VanLuven Rose, all died before him.
