George A. Larbibee

GREAT BEND, N.Y.    George A. Laribee, 60, of 34108 Jackson II Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, at SUNY Upstate Hospital, Syracuse, where he has been a patient after suffering a heart attack on Nov. 12.

Born April 15, 1952, in Watertown, the son of the late Wilbur B. and Ann P. Miterko Laribee, he was a 1970 graduate of Carthage Central High School and later attended JCC. 

He married Janet E. Esposito on Aug. 9, 1980, in Watertown. 

George’s whole career was in sales where he worked for Upstate Food Brokers, Syracuse, T.J. Lipton for 15 years, Proctor & Gamble, Millstone Coffee, Gray’s Wholesale, Clayton and currently as a product service associate for Lowe’s in Watertown.

Mr. Laribee was a member of the BPOE Lodge # 1762, Carthage where he was a former Exalted Ruler from 2005-2006, 5 year Trustee and a former Chairman of the Drug Awareness Program for the North Central District, member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 291, Carthage and 4th Degree member of the Bishop Conroy General Assembly Knights of Columbus, the Eagles Club of Watertown and St. Rita's Church in Deferiet. 

An avid bowler, he was a member of the 700 Club of Watertown and was a Hall of Fame member.

Surviving are his wife, Janet E., Great Bend; two daughters, Briana L. Scott, Raeford, N.C., and Amber M. Laribee, Great Bend; a son, George A. Laribee Jr., Great Bend; two grandchildren, Riley and Lucas Scott; a sister, Ann Marie Eddy, Deferiet; a brother, William Laribee, Great Bend; and nieces and nephews.

In keeping with George’s wishes, there will be a celebration of his life 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at the B.P.O.E. Lodge # 1762 on Fulton St. in Carthage. His body will be cremated.

Arrangements are with the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elks Lodge, Carthage or to St. Rita’s Church, Deferiet.
