Dr. Bernard
R. Lustick, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov.
28, at his Watertown home.
Born March 24, 1925, in Syracuse, the son of Alex and
Dorothy Lustick, and met his future wife, Renee Lipson when
he was 11 and she was 8. They celebrated their 64th wedding
anniversary this past June 22.
Dr. Lustick attended Syracuse University where he also
attended medical school. He began his pediatric training at
Baltimore City Hospital. After serving in Korea as an army
psychiatrist, he completed his pediatric residency at
Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.
In 1954 he moved his family to Watertown to begin his
life’s work as a pediatrician.
After almost 40 years in practice, Dr. Lustick continued in
retirement to work for children in need by serving as a
volunteer at Ohio Street Elementary School.
Surviving are his wife, Renee; five children and their
spouses, Ian and Terri Lustick, Michael Lustick and Barbara
Rickler, Susan Lustick and Lowell Garner, Marty and Karen
Lustick, and David and Doreen Lustick; a brother, Sheldon
Lustick; 12 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held noon Friday, Nov. 30, at
Degel Israel Synagogue.
Arrangements are with the Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown.
