WATERTOWN N.Y.  —  Mary Frances Plumpton, 86, died Saturday, Nov. 26, at Mercy of Northern New York where she had resided since June 3.

The funeral Mass will be said 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Richard Kennedy officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Glenwood Cemetery. 

Arrangements are with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown.

Mrs. Plumpton was born in the town of Croghan on September 8, 1925, daughter of William J. and Mary Geraldine Corcoran McGarry. She attended Holy Family School and graduated from Watertown High School. 

A marriage to Marcus W. Plumpton ended in divorce.

For 26 years she worked in the Jefferson County Legislative Dept. as a secretary. 

She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church and a member of its Legion of Mary. 

She was a former member of both Watertown and Ives Hill Golf Clubs.

Surviving are a son, Marcus W., and his companion, Kathy Shelmidine; a daughter, Marcia A. DeJourdan, all of Watertown; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a great great-grandchild; a brother and his wife, William H. and Margaret McGarry, Brownville; a sister, Marjorie Carpenter, Mich.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
