Tufo Neuroth, 91, formerly of Watertown, passed away peacefully to join her husband, Floyd, on Monday, November 28, 2011 in Newport News,
Va.
Calling hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc.,
Watertown. A prayer service will be 12:15 p.m. Saturday,
Dec. 3, at the funeral home followed by the 1 p.m. funeral
Mass celebrated at Holy Family Church with Rev. Steven Murray officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
Born June 1, 1920, in Watertown, daughter of Samuel and Louisa Esposito
Tufo, she attended school in Clayton, where the family lived for eight years, and graduated from Watertown High School.
She married Floyd E. Neuroth on April 23, 1938, at St. Mary's Church, Clayton, with Rev. George E. Racette officiating. Mr. Neuroth died
April 15, 1995.
She was a homemaker, and also worked in her family's restaurant businesses, including Tufo's and Benny's Steak House, from where she retired as chef.
She had been a communicant of Holy Family Church and a former member of the New Senior Citizens Club, where she had been treasurer for twelve years.
Mrs. Neuroth is survived by her two daughters, Carol L. McAvoy Piacenta, Tolland,
Conn., and Nancy J. Thurston, Newport News, Va.; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and
a great great-grandson; two brothers, Samuel Tufo and wife, Lois, and Jerry Tufo and wife, Carrol, all of Watertown; three sisters, Dora Berkman, Alexandria Bay, Veronica LaFontaine, Watertown, and Joanne Jones and husband, Walter, Forsyth,
Ga.; a sister-in-law, Jenny Tufo, Watertown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, Jason, a brother, Bernard J. "Benny" Tufo, and
a sister, Edith Seymour.
