— Raymond
J. DesJardins, 92, formerly of 36559 Route 3, died Wednesday
evening, Nov. 30, in the Country Manor Nursing &
Rehabilitation Center, Carthage.
Born Jan. 27, 1919, in Carthage, the twin son of the late
Damien and Roseanna Goddard DesJardins, he attended
Augustinian Academy in Carthage.
Mr. DesJardins worked at the former Crown Zellerbach Corp.
until he was drafted in the Army in 1941. He served during
World War II and was discharged as a sergeant on Oct. 9,
1945.
He returned from the war and worked at the former Taggert's
Mill in West Carthage and then at the former St. Regis Paper
Co. in Deferiet. Finally, Raymond was a school bus driver
for the Carthage Central School District, retiring after 20
years of service.
Mr. DesJardins was a member of the VFW Post # 7227 and an
honorary member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 291,
both of Carthage.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Five brothers, his twin, Edmund, Leon, Louis, Oman and Romeo
and five sisters, Floreda Jacobson, Isabelle Richer, Armonde
Carrier, Yvonne Lantigne and Florence McAleese, all died
before him.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at
St. James Catholic Church with Rev. George F. Maroun, Pastor
officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. There
will be a calling hour at the church from 10 to 11 a.m.

Carthage.
