— Rae
Ann McCarthy ,74, of 26989 State Route 3, passed away
Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at her home under the care of Hospice
of Jefferson County and her family.
Born Aug. 18, 1938, in Mannsville, a daughter of Claude E.
and Verna R. Sayler Baker, she graduated in 1956 from Oswego
High School.
She married William J. McCarthy on May 4, 1957, at St.
Paul’s Church in Oswego with Reverend Murphy officiating.
Mrs. McCarthy was a teaching assistant in the Watertown
School District before becoming a customer service
representative for local insurance agencies.
She was employed with Howland LaClair, Jones and Doldo and
the McEvoy agencies.
She was a communicant of St. Paul’s Church in Black River,
volunteered for the Samaritan Medical Center Gift Shop and
enjoyed arts and crafts.
Surviving besides her husband are three sons and their
wives; Dennis and Julie, Marion, NY, Douglas and Kelly,
Ogdensburg and Sean and Tracy, Gouverneur, a brother Terry
Baker, Eagle River, Wisconsin, four grandchildren, several
nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be noon to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at D.L.
Calarco Funeral Home followed by a funeral service with Rev.
Leon Schilling officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood
Cemetery.
