ALEXANDRIA
BAY, N.Y.
—
Carmine John “Nean” Restino, 87, left this world on
Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, after a long and well-lived life.
He was born to Giovanni and Santella Restino on June 19,
1924. in Fairview, N.J.
He married Marion Theresa Kruleski in 1944. They lived for
over 30 years in Binghamton, N.Y. and purchased a summer
home in Point Vivian, N.Y. in 1968.
In 1989, they left Binghamton and made Largo, Fla., their
winter residence. Marion passed away in 2002, and most
recently, Carmine was living in Pensacola, Fla., to be close
to his son, Carmine Jr.
Carmine’s family was in the road construction industry,
and he enjoyed telling stories of how he moved to a
different school each year. During one memorable time,
he was the water boy for the crew that built the first road
across Wellesley Island, connecting the newly constructed
Thousand Island Bridge spans, and he fondly recalled skating
with his siblings on the frozen St. Lawrence River.
He proudly served in the Army during World War II, and
stayed in contact with members of Battery B 579th
Anti-aircraft Artillery.
He truly loved his career in road construction, and in 1988
retired as part-owner of N. R. Corbisello Construction, Inc.
Mr. Restino was full of life and energy, and devoted to his
wife, family, friends and faith.
He was a member of St. Cyril's Church in Alexandria Bay,
N.Y., St. Patrick's Church in Largo, Fla., and the
churches’ Eucharistic Ministries. He was also active in
the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.
Surviving are his children John Restino, Carmine Restino,
Joseph Restino and wife, Cynthia, Anthony Restino, Maria
Holtmann and husband, Thomas, and Nicole Restino;
grandchildren Darci Restino, Rebecca Brady and husband
Jason, Julia Restino, Joseph Restino, Anthony Restino, and
Nicholas Restino; great-grandson Hudson Brady; his sister
Carmella Ocker, brother Michael Restino and wife Dorothy,
and sister-in-law Carolyn Restino; brother-in-law John
Kruleski and wife Jean; and several nieces and nephews who
meant the world to him.
In addition to his wife Marion, he was predeceased by his
brother Joseph Restino, sister Janet Corbisello,
daughter-in-law Gloria Restino and his grandson, Mark
Restino.
Carmine will be remembered for his great capacity for love
and kindness, the warmth he exuded, and for how important he
made everyone feel. He will be greatly missed.
Carmine can best be honored by taking a moment to be
thankful for the love of family and friends, as he did
often.
The family is planning a memorial service in the summer of
2012 in Alexandria Bay and will announce details at that
time.
Local arrangements are with Costello Funeral Home.
