CARTHAGE, N.Y.  —  Phyllis M. Foster, 76, of 222 State St., died Tuesday morning, Dec. 6, at the Country Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, where she had been a resident since April.

Born Feb. 15, 1935, in Carthage, the daughter of Kenneth and Catherine Mathys, she graduated in 1952 from Carthage High School. 

She was a housewife and homemaker.

She enjoyed shopping, knitting and crocheting. 

She was active as the President of TOPS, a spokesperson for the Victims Assistance Center in Watertown and she was a member of the Carthage VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are her children, Cris Wright, Texas, Cathy McKenna, Carthage, Carron Spencer, Carthage, Calvin Foster, New York, Craig Foster, Brownville, Timothy Foster, Minnesota, and Raymond Foster, Jr., Watertown; a sister, Lorna Swan, Carthage; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. Her funeral service will be private. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage.
