Alfred S. Lawrence, 82, of Rosiere, died Tuesday,
Dec. 6, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice
of Jefferson County.
A funeral Mass will said 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at St.
Vincent de Paul Church, Rosiere. A reception will follow
after the service at the Knight of Columbus Hall #2148,
Rosiere.
Born April 1, 1929, in Cape Vincent, the son of the late
Joseph and Agnes Docteur Lawrence, he graduated in 1946 from
Cape Vincent Central School.
He married Audrey Fleming on Oct. 8, 1960, at St. Mary’s
Church, Copenhagen.
Mr. Lawrence was a dairy farmer with his brother from 1951
to 1973. He then worked for Allied Federated Co-op from 1973
to 1994, serving as manager for the last 10 years.
He was a lifelong member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic
Church in Rosiere. He was a member of the Knights of
Columbus, Council 2148. Joining in 1947, he became 4th
degree in 1996.
Mr. Lawrence was chairman of the Town of Cape Vincent zoning
board from 1961 to 1964, and served on the board of
directors for the Jefferson County Extension Service from
1955 to 1959. He was a member of the board of directors for
Citizens Bank of Cape Vincent from 1978 to 2005. Mr.
Lawrence was on the board of directors for the Aiello Cheese
Co. from 1974 to 1979. He also was a volunteer driver for
the Jefferson County Volunteer-Transportation program, 1995
to 2011.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son and his wife,
Leslie and Vilma Lawrence, Saratoga Springs; two daughters
and their husbands, Teri and Tom Kopp, Spencerport, and Andi
and Chris Pupke, Centreville, Md.; six grandchildren,
Madison and Owen Lawrence, Caleb and Madeline Kopp, and Kade
and Daniel Pupke; a brother, Edward Lawrence; and two
sisters, Rosemary Burns, and Patricia Murnane;
A brother, Michael Lawrence, and two sisters, Elizabeth
Riscica and Joyce Walker, all died before him.
Arrangements are with Cleveland Funeral Home, Cape
Vincent.

Volunteer Ambulance Squad, State RT 12E, Cape Vincent, NY,
the Salvation Army, 723 State St, Watertown, NY, or Hospice
of Jefferson County, 425 Washington St, Watertown, NY.
