WATERTOWN, N.Y.
— Werner Hauck,
67, of 533 Morrison St., passed Saturday, Dec. 8, at his
home.
A graveside service with military honors will be 11 a.m.
Thursday, Dec. 13, at Calvary Cemetery.
Born Sept. 27, 1945, in Leipzig, Germany, a son of Kellner
W. and Christina G. Reinhardt Hauck, he graduated from high
school in Germany.
Following school he and his family moved to Flushing, N.Y.
He entered the Army on Jan. 28, 1964, and served
during Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 31,
1984, as a sergeant.
He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam
Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal,
Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Good Conduct Medal
(4th Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon
“2”, NCO Professional Development Ribbon and Army
Commendation Medal.
Mr. Hauck worked at Hannaford’s for a short time before
going to Denny’s as a cook for over ten years.
He married Sally A. Elliott on Sept. 2, 1977, in Evans
Mills, while serving at Fort Drum. She was a homemaker. She
passed Oct. 22, 2010.
He enjoyed bowling, was a member of several bowling leagues
in Watertown, an avid fisherman and a member of the
Watertown American Legion Post 61.
Among his survivors are a son, Mark Hauck, Germany; four
step sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Elliott and his
companion Mary Wiley, Va., Joseph Elliott, Fla., Craig
Elliott and his companion, Kristy Cruz, Watertown, Rick and
Tina Elliott, Watertown; five step daughters and a
son-in-law, Kathy Jewett, Long Mont, Colo., Cheryl Wright,
Watertown, Robin Elliott, Pa., Sandra Cummings, Potsdam,
Kimberly and Jeffery Pierce, Watertown; a brother, Bernd
Hauck, Windsor, Ontario, Calif.; several grandchildren,
great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are with Hart & Bruce Funeral Home,
Watertown.
