Francis
Lewis Horning, 65, retired United States Army staff
sergeant, retired, 65, of Grottoes, passed away Thursday,
Dec. 6, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Va.
He was born Nov. 2, 1947, in Watertown, a son of the late
Chester and Alice Lewis Horning.
Francis is survived by two daughters, Amy Smitherman, and
husband, Bill of Grottoes, and Lisa Loudon and husband, Ed,
of New York; three brothers, Richard Horning, and wife,
Carol, Burbank, Calif., Robert Horning and companion Mary,
Watertown, and Johan Horning of the Netherlands; and four
grandchildren, Zac and Grayci Smitherman, and Sarah and
Joshua Loudon.
Three brothers, Charlie, Mike, and Bill Horning, all died
before him.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday,
Dec. 15, at Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral
services will be 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Military
burial will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Chaumont, following
the service.
