Shirley A. Davis, 86, died Saturday, Dec. 10,
under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson
County.
Born Nov. 18, 1925, in the town of Philadelphia, the
daughter of Lyle G. and Alberta Simmonds Nichols, she
attended school in Philadelphia.
She married Wallace R. Davis on May 9, 1944, at the
Methodist parsonage, Philadelphia, with the Rev. George M.
Reid officiating. The couple owned and operated dairy farms
until 1986 when they moved to the LaFargeville-Omar Road.
Mr. Davis died May 20, 1992.
Mrs. Davis worked at a limburger cheese factory and as a
nurse’s aid in Theresa prior to her marriage and at
Crowley Foods, LaFargeville following her marriage. She and
her husband were also farmers.
She enjoyed crocheting and sewing and had a love for
jewelry.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Dennis D. and Brenda
K, Evans Mills, four daughters and two sons-in-law, Carolyn
and Ronald Ault, Debra Jones, Evans Mills, Denna S.
Morrow, Buckeye, Ariz., and Melodie L. and David Morrow,
Phoenix, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren;
and a great great-grandchild.
Two sisters, Jeannine Sech and Sonya Spooner. and a son,
Wallace L., all died before her.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the Indian
River Baptist Church, Philadelphia.
Arrangements are with Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Inc.,
Theresa.
In lieu of flowers. donations may be made to Hospice of
Jefferson County.
