Craig E. Southwell, 62, of County Route 6, Three
Mile Bay, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, at the home of his
sister on Tibbett’s Point, Cape Vincent, under the care of
his family and Hospice Jefferson County.
Born Jan. 8, 1949, in Watertown, the son of Wilson and
Gladys VanNess Southwell, he attended local schools and
served in the Army from March 1968 to December 1969, serving
13 months in Vietnam.
A marriage to Wendy Hubbard on Sept. 15, 1971, ended in
divorced.
Mr. Southwell worked for
Bach and Co., Clayton, for 35 years, in construction.
Craig was a member of the Cape Vincent American Legion and
an avid fisherman and hunter.
Surviving are a son,
Creighton E. Southwell, and his wife Rachel, Utah; a
daughter, Melani B. Southwell, Three Mile Bay; his companion
of 22 years Doris DeBoy, Three Mile Bay; a sister, Sharon,
and her husband, Donald Clark, Cape Vincent; two
grandchildren, C.J. Southwell and Ashleigh Southwell, both
of Utah.
A brother, Frederick Southwell died before him.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at the
United Church of Cape Vincent, with Rev. Mark Pierce,
pastor, officiating. A gathering of family and friends will
follow at the church. Burial will be in the spring at the
convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangement are with the Cleveland Funeral Home, Cape
Vincent.
