Joyce
A. Broadbent, 70, of Black Lake, and formerly of Theresa,
died unexpectedly at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center on
Friday, Dec. 14.
Born Jan. 19, 1942, in Rome, N.Y., the daughter of Henry and
Sarah Rogers Nestle, she attended Holland Patent Central
School.
She married Hugh Broadbent on Jan. 24, 1958, and was a
devoted wife and mother. Mr. and Mrs. Broadbent were owners
of Hugh’s Grocery & Tackle Store in Theresa from 1985
to 1997. Mr. Broadbent died Jan. 3, 1996.
Mrs. Broadbent worked in the cafeteria at LaFargeville
Central School for several years and Theresa Primary School,
retiring in 2007, having worked there twenty years.
She enjoyed reading and being a grandmother and great
grandmother.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jason and
his girlfriend, Tammy Phillips, Heuvelton and Hugh and
Brenda, Theresa; three daughters and a son-in-law, Julie
Hull, Hammond, JoAnn and George Salanco, Middleville and
Veronica Fanfarillo, Findlay, OH; three brothers and a
sister-in-law, Henry, Jr and Jan, CO, David, NH and Alan and
his companion, Connie, Rome; and many grandchildren and
great grandchildren.
A brother, Leroy Nestle, died before her.
The funeral will be noon Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Frederick
Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa, with Pastor David Snyder of the
Philadelphia Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at
Redwood Cemetery.
Calling hours are 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the funeral
home prior to the funeral.
