LOWVILLE, N.Y. —
Harvey L. Everson, 91, died Friday, Dec. 16, at the Lewis
County Residential Healthcare Facility where he had resided
since May 2008.
A funeral service will be
held at a date and time to be announced at the Lowville
Baptist Church. There will be no calling hours. Burial will
be in Wildwood Cemetery, Lyons Falls.
Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Lowville.
Born May 18, 1920, in Newport, N.Y., a son of the late
Harvey and May Rood Everson, he graduated from Boonville
High School.
On May 8, 1943, he married Alice G. Gaffney at St.
Martin’s Rectory in Port Leyden, NY.
He served in the Army before World War II and was honorably
discharged due to disability in September 1941. While in the
service, he was a member of the Army band, playing clarinet.
He worked for Lyons Falls Pulp and Paper for 25 years and
later worked for Brown Paper Company in Berlin, N.H.
He also worked for Green Thumb working at Whetstone State
park for 17 years. He was noted for all the flowers he would
plant every year in the park.
He was a member of the Lowville Baptist Church, where he was
a lay minister. After he retired and ministered to the
inmates at Lewis County Jail.
He is survived by his
wife of 68 years, Alice; eight children and their spouses,
Catherine “Katie” and Paul Liendecker, Lyons Falls,
Patricia and Anthony Buckingham, Rindge, N.H., Nancy and
Donald Newton, Lowville, Timothy and Donna Everson, Dennis
and Margaret Everson, Mark and Sally Everson, all of
Lowville, Connie and Mike Martin, Glenfield, Mary Jo,
Lowville; 22 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, three
great-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and
cousins.
A son, Charles W. Everson; a great-grandson, Jonathan
Everson Jr.; six brothers, Ernest, Harry, Roy, Warren, Leon and George
Everson; and five sisters, Marion Everson, Ruth Flander,
Lillian Falmer, Marjory Renodin and his twin sister, Edna M.
Mathis, all died before him.
