CENTER, N.Y. — Norris F. Elmer, 79, of the
North Harbor Road, died Monday evening, Dec. 17, at his home
where he was under the loving care of his family and Hospice
of Jefferson County.
Funeral services and burial are private. There are no
calling hours.
Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams.
Born Nov. 6, 1933, a son of Floyd E. and Elizabeth Squires
Elmer, he graduated from Adams Center High School in
1952.
He entered the United Stated Marine Corps and served during
the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1955 as a
sergeant.
Following his discharge, he became a self employed
contractor building and remodeling homes in the South
Jefferson area.
A first marriage ended in divorce. He later married Marlene
Thompson on Nov. 9, 1993, at the home of Justice Donald
Shaw, Adams Center. The couple has lived in their current
home all their marriage life.
Surviving besides his wife, Marlene, are a daughter, Carrie
Elmer, Watertown; four step children; a brother, Jack
(Candace) Elmer, Adams Center; a brother-in-law, Harry
Lamoree, Adams; and several nieces and nephews.
A sister, D. Eileen Lamoree, died before him.
Mr. Elmer was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and
playing golf. He was a member of the Sackets Harbor Harold
Townsend Post 1757 American Legion and the South Jefferson
VFW Post 5344, Adams.
He was a 25-year member of the Adams Center Fire Department
and charter member of the Adams Center Firemen’s
Benevolent Association.
