Alice G. Everson

LOWVILLE, N.Y.  —  Alice G. Everson, 85, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, at the Lewis County General Hospital.

A funeral service for Mrs. Everson, and her husband, Harvey L. Everson, who died Dec. 16, 2011, will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at the Lowville Baptist Church, with Rev. Anthony Bradseth, Pastor, officiating. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Lyons Falls.

Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Lowville.

Born July 7, 1926, in Lyons Falls, a daughter of the late Charles W. and Genevieve McIntyre Gaffney, she attended Lyons Falls High School.  

She married Harvey L. Everson on May 8, 1943, at St. Martin’s Rectory in Port Leyden.  

After raising her family, Alice was a bartender at the Crystal View Hotel in New Bremen from 1965-1968, and was a cook at the K-Mart Snack Bar in Fitchburg, Massachusetts for two years in the 1970’s.  Upon her husband’s retirement in 1982, the couple returned to Lowville, where they resided on the Sharp Road. 

Mrs. Everson was a member of the Lowville Baptist Church, where together with her husband, she served as deacon, and was a member of the Women’s Association.  

Alice enjoyed planning and cooking for church dinners, and writing recipes for the newsletters. 

She enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking, cooking and reading.

She is survived by eight children and their spouses, Catherine “Katie” and Paul Liendecker of Lyons Falls, Patricia and Anthony Buckingham of Rindge, NH, Nancy and Donald Newton of Lowville, Timothy and Donna Everson , Dennis and Margaret Everson, Mark and Sally Everson, all of Lowville, Connie and Mike Martin of Glenfield, Mary Jo of Lowville; 22 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Agnes and John Teal; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  

Mrs. Everson is predeceased by a son, Charles W. Everson; a great-grandson, Jonathan Everson, Jr.; a sister, Mary Burdick, and four brothers, John, Stephen, Patrick, and Bernard Gaffney.
