Stephinie B. Percoski Delles

LOWVILLE, N.Y.  —  Stephinie B. Percoski Delles, 98, formerly of Cascade Avenue, died Thursday, Dec. 22, at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility.  

A funeral Mass will be said 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Rev. Christopher Carrara, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place in Old Glendale Cemetery. Family and friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, at Sundquist Funeral Home. 

Born Sept. 12, 1913, in New Britain, Conn., a daughter of the late John and Anna Mazur, she attended country school in the Fish Creek area as a young girl.

She married Charles B. Percoski in September 1936 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Fish Creek. The couple then moved to West Lowville where they owned and operated a dairy farm. Mr. Percoski died in June 1962. 

She later married Frederick Delles on Nov. 2, 1963, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Mr. Delles died Sept. 29, 1982. 

Over the years, “Steph” was employed by Mazur’s Tavern and Sunderhaft’s Store and retired from the meat department at the P&C Grocery Store.  She was especially known by many for raising African Violets in her home while also helping to heal and restore plants. 

“Steph” also very much enjoyed playing bingo, spending time with her grandchildren and working in her vegetable and flower garden.  

Stephinie was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Lowville. 

Surviving are a son and his wife, Richard C. “Dick” and Maren Ann Percoski, Lowville; a step-daughter and her husband, Johanna and Samuel Villanti, Brantingham; step-sons John and Pam Delles, Watertown, and J. Michael and Betsy Delles, Fairhaven, Vt.; two brothers, Floyd “Rex” and Gladys Mazur, Oriskany, and Stanley Mazur, Fish Creek; sisters-in-law, Ruby Mazur and Barbara Mazur; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.   

Three brothers, Chester, Felix “Phil” and Wallace Mazur, and two sisters, Sophie Shultz and Bertha S. Pawlicki, all died before her.
