Lavina Nellenback, 89, of
River Street, formerly of Glenfield, died Saturday morning,
Dec. 22, at Lewis County General Hospital.
A
funeral Mass will be said 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Saint
Mary’s Catholic Church, Glenfield with Rev. Christopher
Carrara, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Brantingham
Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec.
27, at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.
Born April 30, 1923, in Boonville, a daughter of Paul and
Mary Wilbert Milles, she graduated from West Leyden
School.
She married Martin Nellenback Jr. on Nov. 21, 1942, at St.
Mary’s Catholic Church, West Leyden with Rev. Edward
Rivette officiating. Mr. Nellenback died April 10,
1999.
Mrs. Nellenback raised her family before working for
Lally’s Manufacturing, Kristin International, and as a
custodian at South Lewis Central School. She was a cook for
Head Start in Lyons Falls until her retirement. In 2008, she
moved to Valley View Courts in Lowville.
Mrs.
Nellenback was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic
Church, Glenfield. She was a member of Tug Hill Quilters and
of the Glenfield and Lowville Senior Citizens.
Lavina
enjoyed playing cards, baking, quilting, crocheting, and
cross stitch. She especially enjoyed spending time with
family and friends.
She is survived by nine children and their spouses,
Frederick Nellenback, Lowville;,Jeanette and Richard Ash,
Lowville, Bonnie and Theron Scoville, Pulaski, Patrick and
Kyong Cha Nellenback, Carthage, Brenda Nellenback, Tully,
Doreen and Maynard Olmstead, Glenfield, Joanne and Daniel
Fahey, Syracuse, Benjamin Nellenback, Glenfield, and
Marshall and Kelley Nellenback, Chittenango; 13
grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and three great-great
grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Two daughters, Ruby Jean Hawk and Linda Lou Nellenback, two
brothers, William Milles and Leo Milles, and a sister,
Pauline Hall, all died before her.
