James A. Wheeler

ADAMS, N.Y.  —  James A. Wheeler, 83, a former Adams resident, died Dec. 16 at the United Helpers Nursing Home, Ogdensburg, where he had been a resident since September 30, 2010.

Born Dec. 8, 1928, in Adams, the son of George and Esther Case Wheeler, he attended Adams Center High School.

He worked on the former Harlow Brown farm, Adams Center, as well as the former Keane farm, Adams Center. 

He later moved to Rensalear Falls where he resided with the Richard Pierce family and later to the home of Debbie Miller where he remained for 17 years until entering the nursing home. 

While in Ogdensburg he attended the United Seaway House for several years.

He was a member of the Adams Center Fire Department and Benevolent Association.

Surviving are a sister, Alice Spearance, Adams; several nieces and nephews and a long time caregiver, Debbie Miller, Ogdensburg.

There will be a graveside service in the spring in Union Cemetery, Adams Center.
