Marjorie B. Swanson, 96, of North Shore Road, died Sunday
morning, Dec. 23, at the home of her daughter and
son-in-law, Donna and Stanley Duda.
Born Nov. 16, 1916, in
Walesville, N.Y., a daughter of the late George and Lizzie
Batty, she graduated from Westmoreland Central School.
In 1936 she married Lyle Swanson of Westmoreland, N.Y. In
1940 they had a son, Neil Swanson, who died in 2009. In
1947, they had twin girls, Donna Duda and Deanna Meister,
who now live in Brantingham and Lowville, respectively. She
is also survived by seven grandchildren, several
great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband and son, also by two
sisters, Annie Advocate and Gwendolyn Batty; and three
brothers, Lionel Batty; and Leonard and Leslie Batty, who
died at birth.
Marjorie
was an accomplished organist. She taught piano to students
in Utica, was the organist at the Walesville Baptist Church
for many years, and played piano and accompanied her son
Neil, on WKTV in a weekly Saturday program called “Party
Time.”
She was also an avid golfer and a member of the Brantingham
Golf Club.
There will be no calling
hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring at
Brantingham Cemetery at the family's convenience.
