LOWVILLE, N.Y.  —  Jeffrey R. Meiss, 56, of High Street, died Sunday, Dec. 25, at the Lewis County General Hospital where he has been a patient since Dec. 16.

The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville. Spring burial will be in the Martinsburg Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home.

Born July 8, 1955, in Lowville, a son of the late Spencer E. and Eleanor I. Jackson Meiss, he graduated from South Lewis Central School.  

He worked for AMF in Lowville and drove bus for The ARC, worked for New York State DOT, and drove bus for Adirondack Central School, and most recently he worked as a truck driver for AmeriGas in Alder Creek, retiring in April 2011, due to illness. 

He loved the outdoors, gardening, hiking, and kayaking.

Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, John S. and Diane Meiss, Broadalbin, N.Y.; a sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Thomas Ortlieb Jr., Lowville; three aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.  

A brother, Michael E. Meiss, died in 1992
