LOWVILLE, N.Y. —
Robert E. “Bobb” Watkins, 60, of S. State Street died
early Monday morning, Dec. 26, at his home under the care of
his family.
Born Aug. 16, 1951, in Burlington, Vt., the son of Edward R.
and June Hall Watkins, he graduated in 1969 from Lowville
Central School, and then served in the Navy.
He attended State University at Canton and Plattsburg where
he met his wife Cynthia Nivens. They were married Aug. 14,
1981.
Bobb was the head of the maintenance department at Lowville
Academy and Central School where also was the varsity swim
coach for over 30 years for both the boys and girls swim
teams. He helped coach the junior varsity teams and for a
short time modified swim teams to help build the swim
program. He also coached the girls track team.
His love was playing the guitar and listening and collecting
music.
Bobb collected and displayed art pieces from his former
students.
Surviving are his wife Cynthia; a son and daughter, Sean E.
Watkins, Bowling Green, Ohio, and Clancey L Watkins, Port
Jarvis; his parents, Ed and June, Lowville and Myrtle Beach,
S.C.; his siblings and their spouses, Linda and Tony
Urbaniak, Lowville, Karen and Joe Kozloski, Camillus;
Michael and Christine Watkins, Constableville, and Elizabeth
and Chris Persons, Syracuse; and nieces and nephews.
A sister, Christine Watkins, died before him.
Per Bobb’s wishes there will be no services.
Arrangements are with Sundquist Funeral Home, Lowville.

where a scholarship will be established for swimmers.
