Grace M. Jaques, 83, of
Route 180, town of Orleans, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, while
under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson
County.
Born Sept. 27, 1928, in the town of Alexandria, the daughter
of George H. and Eva G. Dunn Countryman, she attended local
schools.
She married Claude Martin Jaques on March 10, 1947. He
died Dec. 12, 1967.
Mrs. Jaques worked with her husband on the family farm, was
a caregiver, and was employed with Century 21 in Lawton, Okla.
She attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
in Watertown and was a member of the Relief Society.
Mrs. Jaques enjoyed crocheting, gardening, genealogy,
puzzles and reading.
Survivors include six sons and four daughters-in-law,
Charles, Fulton, Gene and Laurie, Overland Park, Kansas,
John and Cindy, Texas, Clifford, Calif., James and
Jeannette, Mo., Bill and Olga, Texas; five daughters and a
son-in-law, MaryAnn Jaques, Kansas City, Kansas, Grace
Jaques, LaFargeville, Kathy and Floyd Smith, Mo., Elizabeth
Erwin and her fiancé, Shawn Delello, Theresa and Emma
Gonzales, Texas; four brothers and two sisters-in-law,
Leonard and Kay Countryman, Redwood, Harry Countryman,
Wilcott, William “Bill” Countryman, S. Rutland, and Lyle
“Butch” and Elsie Countryman, LaFargeville; three
sisters and a brother-in-law, Mayford Davis and Diane and
Lee Davis, all of Texas, and Patricia Tibbles, Redwood; 37
grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two
daughters-in-law, Bonnie Jaques, LaFargeville and Connie
Jaques, Fla.
A son, George L. “Les” Jaques, three brothers, Francis,
Roy and Robert, and a sister, Rose Roser, all died before
her.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 20020 County Route 65,
Watertown. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Sandy Creek.
Calling hours are 6 to 9 pm on Friday at Frederick Bros.
Funeral Home, Inc., Theresa, and 10 to 11 a.m. at the church
prior to the service.
