Margaret B. Benware

PHILADELPHIA, N.Y.  —  Margaret B. Benware, 88, of Quinton, Okla., died Sunday, Dec. 25, at Quinton Nursing Home where she had been a resident. 

Born Aug. 17, 1923, in Russell, the daughter of Peter and Hattie Fanning Newvine, she graduated in 1940 from Hermon High School. 

She married Sidney G. Benware on Aug. 28, 1940.  Mr. Benware died Oct. 1, 2005.  

She lived in Philadelphia most of her life until moving to Oklahoma last year. 

Mrs. Benware was a homemaker and worked for Northland Electric from 1960 to 1966. 

She was a member of the Robert Markwick American Legion Post 798 Auxiliary in Philadelphia and enjoyed gardening and cooking. 

Survivors include four sons and their wives, Sidney and Barbra, Rochester, Eugene and Lorna, St,. Petersburg, Fla., Gary and Darleen, Kinta, Okla., and Louis and Pat, Philadelphia; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sarah and Harry Davis, and Kay Judd, all of Red Oak, Okla.; 23 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; eight great great gandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Eleanor Benware, Philadelphia. 

Besides a son, Albert who died Aug. 4, 2009, two sisters, Edith Carrieo and Madeline Hamilton and two brothers, Kenneth and Clarence, all died before her. 

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday Jan. 5, at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Inc., Theresa, with Rev. Tom Kornmyer of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Philadelphia, officiating. Burial will be in Hermon Cemetery, Hermon. Friends are invited to gather at the Robert Markwick American Legion in Philadelphia following the burial. 

Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at the funeral home.
