Marjorie Ann Egnew, 88, died Friday afternoon, Dec. 30, at the Country Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre where she had been a resident since December 2004.
She was born Feb. 11, 1923, daughter of Asa Barr and Geneva McGowan Barr.
Before marrying Edwin R. Egnew on May 18, 1950, she worked at various places including Woolworth's, Pine Camp, Carthage Cheese and the Watertown Times.
She was an avid reader and closely followed current events.
Marjorie was an expert seamstress, enjoyed baking, and loved animals. Knowing every back road in the area she enjoyed taking long country drives. She had a great curiosity about the world and was especially noted for her sense of humor.

Surviving are two daughters Linda Egnew, Carthage, and Susan and son-in-law Mel Kubota,
Lawrenceville, NJ.
There will be no public calling hours or funeral service.
Arrangements are being handled with the Scherer Funeral Home at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 500 State St., Carthage.
