– A.
Anne Alton, 80, 423 Holcomb St., died Friday evening
at the Samaritan Keep Home, where she had been a patient for
several days.
Born on March 3, 1926 daughter of Anson E. and Mabel Parker
Livingston. She was a graduate of
Watertown High School. She went on to
Western Union School in Elizabeth, New Jersey and returned
to Watertown shortly after.
She married Gordon Leslie Alton on June 16, 1946.
Mr. Alton passed away June 26, 1970. They
worked together at the Hotel Brighton as Assistant Managers
until becoming a homemaker. After
returning to work in the early 50’s she was the clerk in
the Children’s Department at Empsall's. She
then went on to work at Jefferson County and retired in
March 1986 as Senior Data Entry Operator after 26 years of
dedicated service.
She was very active in
the 1960’s with PTA (PTO) at John C. Thompson School in
Watertown. She was a Sunday school teacher at Emmanuel
Congregational Church in Watertown. Upon her
retirement she became a Nanny to several local children.
She was also a true cat lover. She was an avid sports
fan; she had many favorite teams; New England Patriots,
Boston Red Sox, Buffalo Bills, Syracuse University basketball
and all of the Copenhagen Knight teams.
She is survived by two
daughters, Leslie and Cynthia (Cindy) Alton of Watertown,
her granddaughter and grandson, Mary and Eric Shambo, her
Great-Grandson, Zachary Shambo, and the family of Mr. Robert
Henry, all of Copenhagen.
She is predeceased by three sisters, Lucretia (Keta) Henry,
Thelma Stevens, and Edna Gardner. Her stepmother,
Mildred Livingston and a step-brother, Robert Murdock.
Calling hours will be
held on Monday June 12, 2006 at the Bossuot-Lundy Funeral
Home, Inc. Copenhagen from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday June 13, 2006 at the
Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home, Inc. Copenhagen at 2:00 p.m.
with The Reverend Holly Evans officiating. Burial will
follow in the Brookside Cemetery, Watertown.

made to the Jefferson County SPCA.
