WATERTOWN, N.Y.
— Jane A. Godfrey, 76, of Gill Street,
died Wednesday morning, March 10, with her family at
her side and Hospice of Jefferson County.
The funeral will be noon Saturday, March 13, at Reed &
Benoit Funeral Home. Burial will follow in North Watertown
Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, March 12, at
the funeral home.
Born Sept. 12, 1933, in Watertown, a daughter of
Howard and Helen Browski Metz, she graduated from Watertown
High School.
She married Carl E. “Ted” Godfrey on Oct. 4, 1952. Mr.
and Mrs. Godfrey opened the Dan Dee Donuts Store of
Watertown in 1967 and operated it for several years.
She later worked for Dr. Lustick, and retired as secretary
for the Local 910 IBEW after 20 plus years of service. Mr.
Godfrey, a 23-year retiree with the Army and supervisor at
Borden, Inc., died April 20, 1998.
Mrs. Godfrey enjoyed her cats, crocheting, casino trips, bingo
and spending time with her family.
Surviving are three daughters and their husbands, Linda and
Mike Converse, Watertown; Jeanette and Jim Lettiere, Clayton,
and Robin and Dave Tanner, Watertown; eight grandchildren,
six great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Horning, Watertown;
several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a
son, Arthur J., on Feb. 4, 2001 and two brothers, David and
Edward Metz.
