Pasquale V. “Patsy” Doldo, 85, Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY — Pasquale V. “Patsy” Doldo, 85, of Columbia Street, Watertown, passed away July 19, 2018, surrounded  by his family.

Patsy was born March 23, 1933, in Watertown, son of John J. and Josephine Coppola Doldo, Sr. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1951. He was the starting point guard on the 1951 NY State Championship basketball team.

He then was employed by the New York Air Brake until 1953 when he entered the United States Army.

He married Jean Marie Fitzgerald on Oct. 29, 1960, at the Woodruff Hotel in Watertown with Mayor William Lauchenaur officiating. Jean died Nov. 2, 2014.

In 1960, he and his brother Anthony “Tiny” founded Doldo Bros. Beer Distributors. He continued to run the business along with his son Pat until the time of his passing. In 2008, Patsy was given the Miller High Life Achievement Award which at the time was the highest yearly award given for Miller distributors.

Patsy was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #496, VFW Post #1400, American Legion Post #61 and the Italian American Civic Association. In 2006, he was inducted into the Red and Black Hall of Fame.

Patsy loved a cold Miller Lite, his breakfast group, his Quick Draw gang, his poker buddies and almost any dessert. The most important thing in his life was his family.

Patsy’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Samaritan Medical Facilities for the kindness and care they gave to him and his family.

Surviving are two sons, Pat (Jen), their two children, Matt and Luke, and Todd (Jenny), their four children, Cole, Jade, Clayton and Ava, all of Watertown; two brothers, John (Patty) Doldo, Jr., Watertown, and Louis Richard Doldo and his companion Lisa, Watertown; two sisters-in-law, Donna Doldo and Josephine Doldo, Watertown; several nieces and nephews.

Three brothers, Joseph Doldo, Dominic “Mego” Doldo, Anthony “Tiny” Doldo, a sister, Concetta Romeo and a sister-in-law, Ellen, all died before him.

A funeral Mass will be said 11 a.m. Monday, July 23, at Holy Family Church with Msgr. Robert Aucoin officiating, Rev. Donald Robinson and Fr. Vincent Freeh, will concelebrate. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
