WATERTOWN, NY — Peter A. Gregory, 45, of El Paso, Texas, and formerly of Watertown, NY, passed away unexpectedly in Plainview, Texas, on Aug. 8, 2018.
He was born on Jan. 12, 1973, in Edwards, NY.
Peter attended Indian River High School. Following High School, Peter entered the US Army from 1996 through 1998 and was stationed at Fort Hood. In 2014 he graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a Computer Science Degree.
Peter was an over the road truck driver for several companies in which the last four years drove for Knight Transportation.
Peter was an exceptional artist having drawn many charcoal and pencil drawings since high school.
Peter was also an animal lover. During his visits home, he would choose to sleep on a piece of furniture or even the floor nearest the family pets. He would feed a stray animal before he fed himself.
Peter never married. His family and loyal friends meant the most to him. The light of his life was his nieces and nephews, whom he cared about more than himself. If you ever got the opportunity to meet “Uncle Pete” you would surely never forget about it.
We respect his beliefs that his soul and energy have transitioned into somewhere greater. His spirituality leads us to believe he is very much all around us. He would want the energy from grief to be directed in a more positive way, such as loving the individuals we have close to our heart, even just a tad bit more.
He is survived by his father, Richard J. Gregory, Sr. of Evans Mills, NY, two brothers, Richard J. Gregory, Jr. (Denise) of Watertown, NY, Steven Gregory of Watertown, NY, one sister Carol George (Joseph) of Rushville, NY, two nieces Megan Hickey (Christian) of Watertown, NY and Jenna Gregory of Watertown, NY, two nephews, Matthew Gregory of Watertown, NY and Samuel George of Rushville, NY, and his great nieces and nephew Grace, Gabriel and Genevieve Hickey.
He was predeceased by his mother Sharon M. Gregory and a brother in infancy Terry.
Per Peter’s wishes there will be no calling hours. A private family service and burial in Waddington, NY will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, take a moment out of your day to think about “Uncle Pete” and do something kind for someone else. Any exchange of kindness will do.
