Seven Motorists Accused of Driving While Intoxicated

The following motorists are charged with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

Erik C. Madore, 20, of 307 Washington St., Brownville, was charged by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies at 2:51 a.m. Sunday on Route 12 near the intersection of Route 342 in the town of Pamelia with driving while intoxicated, underage possession of an alcoholic beverage and unlawful possession of marijuana. His blood alcohol testing was 0.13 percent, deputies said.
A BAC level of 0.08 percent or more is considered proof of intoxication under state law. He is to appear June 5 in Pamelia Town Court.

William M. Coggins, 45, of 25232 Waddingham Road, Evans Mills, was arrested by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies at 8:40 p.m. Saturday after he allegedly drove drunk in his 1992 Chevy pickup truck to the residence of his former wife, Kelly L. Wood-Steele, County Route 192, Redwood, and struck her 1996 Jeep in the driveway. Mr. Coggins also allegedly broke out a porch glass window and broke a door, deputes said. He was charged with felony DWI, second-degree criminal trespass and fourth-degree criminal mischief. He refused a breath screen test, they said. The DWI charge is a felony because of a prior conviction in September 2004, deputies said.

Barbara L. McCabe, 56, of 10392 Grandjean Rd., Henderson, was charged with felony DWI, failure to keep right, not wearing a seat belt, consuming an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle and violating a restricted license after she struck a utility pole at about 6:28 p.m. Friday on Lake Road in the town of Ellisburg, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department. She was transported to Samaritan Medical Center complaining of neck pain and blood was drawn there to determine her BAC, deputies said. The charge is a felony due to a prior DWI conviction in December of last year, they said. A passenger, Eric G. Whitney, 58, was also transported to SMC.

Lindsey M. Hollenbeck, 24, of 32748 Route 3, Carthage, was charged by sheriff's deputies at 3:17 a.m. Saturday on Route 12E in the town of Chaumont with DWI, speeding and unlawful possession of marijuana. Her BAC was 0.17 percent, deputies said. K-9 Liberty assisted deputies in finding marijuana in her purse, according to police documents. She is to answer the charges May 29 in Brownville Town Court.

Charity L. Nortz, 25, of 6346 Williams Road, Lowville, was charged by Lewis County sheriff's deputies with DWI and failure to keep right following a one-vehicle rollover accident at 2:23 a.m. Saturday on East Martinsburg Road in the town of Martinsburg. She was located at neighboring residence, deputies said. She tested at 0.12 percent BAC, according to the sheriff's office. She is ordered to appear in Martinsburg Town Court.

Kevin J. O'Brien, 23, of Lowville, was stopped by Lewis County sheriff's deputies for crossing hazard markings at 1:50 a.m. Sunday on Route 12 in the town of Lowville. While speaking with him about the infraction, deputies detected an odor of alcohol from his breath. His test reading was 0.11 percent BAC, deputies said. He is to answer the charges in Lowville Town Court.

Alicia M. Strader, 31, of 4 Institute St., Adams, was charged by state police at 1:35 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 81 with driving while under the influence of drugs, reported to be prescription medications, speeding 79 mph in a 65-mph zone, leaving the scene of an accident, no seat belt, unsafe lane change and felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Troopers said she was reported to have struck construction barrels near exit 46 in the town of Pamelia and was last seen southbound near Adams Center. Upon locating the vehicle, troopers observed her moving unsafely in lanes of traffic forcing several vehicles towards the shoulder of the highway, they said.
