Watertown Woman Charged with Aggravated DWI

The following motorists are charged with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

Elizabeth J. Majo, 25, of 1708 Ohio St., Apt. 71, Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 2:52 a.m. Monday in the 400 block of Factory Street with aggravated driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right. Her blood alcohol content was 0.19 percent, police said. Aggravated DWI, which carries a harsher sentence upon conviction, is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or more. She is to answer the charges July 2 in City Court.

Todd B. Bettinger, 37, of 1632 Hobbs Rd., Mannsville, was charged by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies at 11:47 p.m. Saturday on Scott Road in the town of Ellisburg with DWI. His blood alcohol content was 0.13 percent, according to police documents. A BAC level of 0.08 percent or more is considered proof of intoxication under state law. He was additionally cited with failing to stop at a stop sign, inadequate muffler, insufficient tail lamps and operating an uninspected vehicle, deputies said. He is to answer the charges in Ellisburg Town Court.

James A. Durrell, 22, of 20125 Hangar Access Rd., Fort Drum, was charged by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies at 2:49 a.m. Sunday on Route 342 in the town of LeRay with DWI. He refused a breath screening test, according to police documents. Deputies said he had been ordered off the Ugly Stick Saloon property and told not to return. When he returned, deputies responded and allegedly observed Mr. Durrell leaving the parking lot as they arrived. He awaits prosecution in LeRay Town Court.

Kidane B. Mengesha, 23, Fort Drum, was charged by Watertown police at 2:02 a.m. Saturday in the City Hall parking lot with DWI, unsafe backing, suspended registration and operating a vehicle out of class. Police said he back into a vehicle while driving on a license that was suspended on May 30 for not having insurance in effect. His blood alcohol content was 0.11 percent, police said. He is to answer the charge June 26 in City Court.

Michelle J. Glenn, 22, of 7765 Wagner Rd., Lowville, was charged by state police at 2:38 a.m. Saturday on Route 812 in the town of Croghan with DWI. Troopers said she was traveling south on Belfort Road and signaled improperly onto Route 812. Her BAC was 0.14 percent, police said. She is to answer the charge June 24 in Croghan Town Court.

Erik M. Smith, 25, of 5667 Log London Rd., Mannsville, was charged by state police at 11:48 p.m. Friday on N. Main Street in the village of Adams with DWI and failure to stop at red light. Deputies said he registered a 0.15 percent BAC. He is to answer the charges June 24 in Village Court.

Christine L. Pomainville, 39, of 8 King St., Massena, was charged Thursday by state police in the town of Louisville with DWI. Her BAC was 0.09 percent, troopers said. She was also cited with a light violation.
