Hogansburg Woman Jailed for 38 Pounds of Marijuana

WATERTOWN, N.Y. —   A Hogansburg woman is being held without bail at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building after she was allegedly found with 38 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of her car, according to state police.

Catherine K. Herne, 56, of 378 Route 37, Apt. A2, was stopped at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday in the southbound lane of Interstate 81 in the town of Sandy Creek for speeding.

Trooper John J. Poggi III conducted a free air sniff with K-9 Ram who made a positive alert at the trunk area of the vehicle.

She was charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana and arraigned in Ellisburg Town Court.
