Burns: SUV Found in Black River Was Stolen in Watertown

GLEN
PARK,
N.Y. — A
sport utility vehicle found upside down in the Black River in Glen Park has
been confirmed as a stolen vehicle from the city of Watertown, according to
Jefferson County Sheriff John P. Burns.
Divers searched the interior of the vehicle at about 9:45 a.m. Saturday and
found no one inside.
Deputies continue to investigate and more details are expected to be released
later today.

Members
of the city of Watertown Fire Department found no one inside a Jeep sport
utility vehicle discovered Saturday morning partially submerged in the Black
River in the town of Pamelia across from Suburban Propane in Glen Park.
Jefferson County Sheriff John P. Buns said his department is continuing to
investigate how the vehicle entered the river.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by state police, Watertown City Fire
Department, Glen Park Fire Department, Glen Park Police Department, New York
York state DEC, Town of
Watertown Fire Department, Jefferson
County Office of Fire and Emergency Management, Town of Watertown Ambulance,
Guilfoyle Ambulance and Jefferson County STAR Team.
